About this nursery

Elmore Roots grows cold-hardy pawpaw varieties including Sunflower and Pennsylvania Golden, raised organically in northern Vermont, where the nursery has spent over forty years proving what will really grow this far north. David Fried started it in 1981; more than 100,000 fruit trees and berry plants growing around Vermont started here, and the nursery propagates much of its stock from its own time-tested collection. Bareroot planting seasons run mid-April to late June and October to November, and orders are pick-up or local delivery only, not mail order.
