Planting Justice is an Oakland nonprofit with a pawpaw list around 25 varieties long, part of one of the largest organic edible-plant collections in North America, over 1,500 varieties. The nursery employs people coming home from prison at living wages, with a staff recidivism rate it reports at 2 percent against California's 39. Orders ship nationwide, and purchases fund the mission directly.
