The River Garden runs a licensed and inspected plant nursery from a homestead farm in Sparta, Tennessee, where more than 100 wild pawpaw trees grow along with a grafted variety planted in the yard. The family ran a micro-dairy for ten years, still milks goats, and says it started farming to raise its kids on home-grown food free of pesticides and herbicides. Around two dozen kinds of fruit grow on the place, and the nursery's posted price list runs from select pawpaw seedlings to grafted Sunflower and Peterson trees, sold locally and through the farm's Etsy shop. The family also sells at the Cookeville Farmer's Market and at Sparta Green Market events.
