Radix Ecological Sustainability Center

Nursery

About this nursery

Radix Ecological Sustainability Center planted the pawpaws now fruiting along Warren Street in Albany's South End, where the nonprofit has run a one-acre educational urban farm on a formerly vacant lot since 2009. The center is an ecology education organization first, a living model of gardens, greenhouses, honeybees, fish, and composting systems, and its beds get compost rather than chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. New York's state farm directory records it as an urban nonprofit farm open to the public, with fruit and tree nuts among its products and a farmers market presence. Its own pages do not advertise plant sales, so ask the center directly about pawpaw plants or fruit before making a trip.
