About this nursery
Raintree Nursery gives pawpaw its own category in a catalog chosen for flavor and ease of growing rather than looks or shelf life. Sam Benowitz started the nursery in 1972 to bring the world's best edible plants to the Pacific Northwest, traveling to dozens of countries to collect varieties worth propagating here. The family-owned nursery sits in Morton, just north of Mount St. Helens, and has been run since 2018 by James and Rye Owen.
