Sweet Alice is one of the oldest pawpaw cultivars still in the trade, selected from the wild in West Virginia by Homer Jacobs of the Holden Arboretum in 1934. Kentucky State University records it as medium-sized, about 5 inches long, with orange-yellow flesh, ripening at the beginning of October.
