What growers say
Wells was found growing wild in Salem, Indiana by David Wells in 1990 and has become one of the better known large heirloom pawpaws, with fruit commonly reported from half a pound up to a full pound. Nursery listings place ripening in mid to late September. It carries a taste test award reputation, though published grower feedback is thinner than for the modern bred varieties.
I am in central PA and am looking for a good pollinating partner for my Wells, something that should flower around the same time (early).
